As part of the effort to encourage cooperation between Poland and Indonesia, First Counsellor Romuald Morawski, Head of Trade and Investment Promotion Divsion Embassy of Poland in Jakarta (TIPD), visited Bitung on 11 April 2016 and met with Vice Mayor of Bitung, Ir. Maurits Mantiri. The meeting was also attended by relevant officials from the Bitung administration.
The purpose of the official visit to Bitung is to explore further the economic potential of Bitung and exchange information about trade and investment cooperation opportunities. In particular Poland offers cooperation in the sectors: energy utilization, food and beverages processing, water and waste management, port and airport technology, electricity, hospital equipment, as well as maritime and fishery technology. In addition, Counsellor Morawski exchanged information about experience in the management of Special Economic Zones (SEZ). Poland has 17 SEZ spread across the country. This visit aims to establish contacts between Polish companies and SEZ operators with their counterparts in Bitung.
The meeting in Bitung was successful and effective. Both parties agreed to follow-up with increase of communication and continuous exchange of information.
